At a retail price of ,30, this 2014 Chianti Riserva (13524479) is a must!
The Leonardo Chianti Riserva is a go-to wine for its elegance and suppleness. Furthermore, in 2015 the Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso awarded it 2 bicchieri with special mention: great value! It is produced by the Cantine Leonardo da Vinci cooperative, located in the town of Vinci, birthplace of the famous genius. One of his most famous drawings, the Vitruvian Man, is on the label.
The Leonardo Riserva is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, aged 10 months in French oak barrels. “Tending toward garnet in colour, this attractively maturing Chianti offers aromas and flavours of dried cherries, plum cake, incense, sandalwood, and leather. The softening tannins caress a spiced finish (VINTAGES panel, Sept. 2014)”.
Among the food pairings to try with this Chianti: beef, pork or lamb roasts, grilled meats, pasta with rich meat sauce, pasta with tomato sauce and fresh herbs, pizza, mature pecorino cheese.
A continuous supply at the SAQ, it is now easier than ever to find it!
